Done!

My place mats and tablerunner made from scraps, ready for action on the antique dining table we use.
I have 4 placemats, but I couldn't seem to squeeze it all into the photo to show you. (Mostly because I was trying to spare you the scene of a mish-mash display of packed belongings which surround the table and form a rather unsightly backdrop. I just wanted you to see the quilted goodness on the table ;o).

Look close at this shot of the table runner and you may see that at the middle point of it, the heart quilting looks upside down. I point that out to you, because it was intentional. My idea to do it that way was so that from either end of the table the hearts closest to you are right-side up. Make sense? Maybe not, but there it is. ;o) All that red fabric and those hearts make me happy.

  2. Just gorgeous, Katherine. And how brilliant having the hearts be right side up no matter where you sit. ;-)

  6. Fabulous work, Katherine. You know how impressed I am with patchwork at the best of times, and this project has the added bonuses of being RED and involving heart shapes... love it.

I've been watching your blog through Bloglines the last few weeks and have no time for commenting, but it's been lovely to hear from you through the comments on my blog. COmpany while I burn midnight oil is always a good thing.

  10. Great idea to do the heart quilting this way. Also hard to believe you had enough red scraps to make a complete table setting. Looks awsome.

  16. Hi!
I was looking for designs for place mats and came across your blog. I could spend hours on your blog, your work is amazing!
I'm really interested in your place mats though and your table runner. If you don't like sharing your secrets, please, don't feel obligated. If you don't mind, I would love to know how to make them. I've been staring and staring at them and I just can't figure out how you pieced them together. Even the size of the squares would be helpful (I'm a bit new at this :)
I will give you my email address but again, please don't feel obligated.

    Thank you so much!
